The Bible uses many different images and representations of God. Because God is beyond human comprehension, these images give us only a limited picture of what he is like, but they are all that we have. The most common representation of God in the Bible is that of a loving Heavenly Father. Fathers are both respected and loved. They discipline us and they comfort us. They teach and they counsel us. Jesus taught us to pray to our Heavenly Father (Matthew 6:9; Luke 11:2). He reminded us that God cares and provides for us. In countless different passages, the Bible gives us a wonderful picture of God the Father. |
