There was a storm gathering for Jesus on the Thursday before Good Friday. It was a storm of betrayal, desertion, denial, and loneliness. Even his Heavenly Father was going to turn his face away from his beloved Son. It was a storm of injustice.
Yet it was a storm that Jesus approached willingly and boldly. In fact, it could be said that Jesus created the storm by challenging and agitating the very people that wanted him dead. Even though the storm looked very dark for Jesus, such that the prospect of it made him sweat drops of blood, he still walked right into the storm. Praise God, we will never experience as fierce a storm as that because Jesus experienced it for us. |
